In September 2024, the Czech Republic was hit by severe floods. Particularly affected: our EQCZ site in Ostrava. A dam breach at the confluence of two major rivers led to massive flooding – the water was up to 1.5 meters high in some places. Production, offices, storage areas, and even the server infrastructure were affected. The entire operation had to be temporarily suspended. For ten days, the Ostrava site operated without electricity.
Prompt action was required: damages had to be documented, premises cleaned, and initial steps for resuming production initiated. Amidst this exceptional situation, there was great uncertainty – including among employees, who rightly wondered what would happen next.
The management responded resolutely. Processes were rethought, decision-making paths streamlined, and the organization made more flexible. We withstood the considerable pressure from our customers, who relied on timely deliveries – together.
This crisis became a true test. And it revealed strength. Many employees took responsibility and pitched in – genuinely, in work clothes and rubber boots. The solidarity was impressive. The teams of our machine partners Engel and Arburg also provided strong support in restarting production. All that remains is a huge thank you – to everyone who made this fresh start possible with their dedication, perseverance, and attitude. We say: "Thank you. And on we go."
